Track 1. Foundations of Health Economics

How care is paid for, why it costs what it costs, and who is left out. No prior economics class is required.

Why this track comes first

A clinical idea that cannot name the payer is a poster. Track 1 is the public home of the financial lens before Track 3 turns it into budgets and funding plans.

1.1 How Healthcare Gets Paid For

Insurance basics, premiums, deductibles, and employer versus government coverage. A student who finishes this module should be able to say who writes the check for a visit, not just that insurance pays.

1.2 The Cost of Care

Why healthcare is expensive: administrative costs, drug pricing, and hospital billing. This is the module that stops a team from treating price as a mystery or a moral slogan.

1.3 Access and Disparities

Rural care deserts, uninsured populations, and global health gaps. Examples of gaps, not a complete list. If you cannot point to a person or a community, you are not done with this module.
